RoomReceipts ("we", "us") is a home-inventory app that helps you document what you own for insurance and security-deposit purposes. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using RoomReceipts you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account: your email address (used to sign in) and authentication data.
• Your inventory: item names, descriptions, estimated values, brands/models/serial numbers, rooms, and any photos or receipts you add.
• Scans & evidence: the videos and photos you capture, the capture time, GPS coordinates at capture, and a content hash we compute to make the record tamper-evident.
• Properties: labels and addresses for the homes, rentals, storage units, or vehicles you add.
• Subscription: your plan and entitlement status (received from Apple/Google — we never see your card details).
• Notifications: a device token if you enable push reminders, and your reminder preferences.
• Property Manager users only: for managers, the lease-holder name, email, and phone you enter for a unit, and the move-in/out records tied to it.
• Diagnostics: standard server logs (never your item contents, addresses, coordinates, or media).

How we use it

• To provide the service — store your inventory, produce evidence-grade records, and generate the reports and exports you request.
• To catalogue items from your scans using an AI vision model. AI-suggested values are estimates, not appraisals, and you confirm them.
• To send the reminders and (for managers) the move-in/out records you choose to send.
• To operate, secure, and improve the service, and to comply with law.

How your data is shared

We do not sell your data, and we never share one user's data with another user. The only ways your data leaves your account are ones you initiate:

• A double-confirmed export you send to an insurance agent or police recipient.
• For managers, a move-in/out record you choose to email a renter or building manager. These are one-way; recipients never gain access to your account.

We use service providers who process data on our behalf under contract: Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, and the AI model), Mailgun (email delivery), and Apple / Google (payments and push delivery). We may disclose data if required by law.

Your rights & choices

• Access / portability: use the in-app export to receive a full copy of your data.
• Deletion: delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete my data). This permanently erases your inventory, media, and account. For managers, it also erases your units and tenant records.
• Notifications: turn email/push reminders off at any time.
• Depending on where you live (e.g. California/CCPA, EEA/UK), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. Contact us to do so.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If a subscription lapses, we generate a final export for you and delete the data 90 days after lapse. Deleting your account erases your data promptly. There is no import — by design, returning users re-scan so records stay accurate and verifiable.

Security

Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Every record is scoped to your account, and evidence hashes are computed server-side so records can't be backdated or altered.

Children

RoomReceipts is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We'll update this page and revise the "last updated" date when this policy changes.
